During the period of Japan occupation, Taiwan Taichung District Prosecutors Office was named "Taichung District Prosecutors Station" and had jurisdiction in Taichung State. It is located on what is now No. 91, Sec.1, Zihyou Rd., West District, Taichung City. After recovery of Taiwan, it was called "Taichung District Prosecutors Bureau". On October 15, 1940, the Taichung State was divided into four parts, Taichung City, Taichung County, Changhua County, and Nantou County. On August 31, 1968, Changhua District Prosecutors Bureau was founded and took over jurisdiction in Changhua County. On December 24, 1989, in order to conform the Organization Act of Courts and Prosecutors Offices, Taichung District Prosecutors Bureau was transformed into "Taichung District Prosecutors Office" and its top supervisor was rechristened "Chief Prosecutor". On July 1, 1994, Taiwan Nantou District Court and Nantou District Prosecutors Office was instituted. Nowadays, jurisdictional areas of Taiwan Taichung District Prosecutors Office cover Taichung City and Taichung County.
