Services of Association for Victims Support (AVS)

I. Application for crime victim compensation

A.The person who suffers serious physical injury due to a criminal act
“Pursuant to Paragraph 4, Article 10 of the Criminal Code, the term ‘serious physical injury’ means destruction of or serious damage to the sight, hearing, function of speech, taste, smell, the limbs or the power of reproduction, and other serious injury to body or to health that is either impossible or difficult to cure.”


B. Family members of the deceased victim of a criminal act
1. Priority of family members of the deceased is:
(1) Parents, spouse and children
(2) Grandparents
(3)  Grandchildren
(4) Siblings

2. Family members as mentioned in Items (2), (3) or (4) above are limited to those who depend on the victim for subsistence.
3. Family members as mentioned in Paragraph 2 above who have intentionally or negligently caused the death of the victim, or other family members of a higher priority or equal priority are not to be protected.


C. Victims of sexual assault crimes meeting the criteria as set down in Item 2, Article 3 of the Crime Victim Protection Act.


II. Service target: Apart from the abovementioned victims and their family members, the following persons are also included:
(1) Victims of domestic violence and human trafficking.
(2) Children and youth victims.


III. Legal assistance.


IV. Psychological counseling.


V. Emergency relief, medical subsidy, education subsidy, etc.


VI. Accommodation and settlement.
